These are the most simply constructed of the baby carriers. They consist of a long piece of fabric, which you tie around you in different ways depending on how you want to carry your baby or toddler. These are one of the most versatile types of carriers.

The length, width and the type of fabric all affect how the wrap feels and fits, and also the styles of wrapping you can use.  The material spreads the weight evenly across your shoulders and torso, which makes these particularly comfortable for carrying your baby for hours at a time.

The age of your child can affect the wrap you choose. The fleecey ones are lovely and snuggly on cooler days or cool evenings, and are great for tucking a sleepy baby into for a snooze. They are an ideal first wrap. As your baby gets older you may find that you prefer a slightly firmer fabric, and they can then be used for lots of different carries right into the toddler years.
