Ring Sling This is a sling worn over one shoulder, which is adjusted by pulling and loosening the fabric through two metal rings. The material is then spread across your back to help distribute the weight. There are lots of different positions, suitable for different ages of your child.
Slings are a good carrier from birth until well into toddlerhood and fold up quite small so are easy to have in the car or a change bag. They also look fantastic, whether you choose cotton or silk. You will be surprised at how easy and comfortable slings are to use and wear. Breastfeeding : Slings can also be used to help you breastfeed discreetly. You can use the fabric to keep hidden any parts that you would prefer other people not to see! Slings stocked: Maya Lightly Padded, Ellaroo Organic Padded, FunkySlings, Zolowear Silk |

Pouch A pouch is a simple yet effective design. It is a pocket of material that hangs across your body from one shoulder to your hip on the opposite side. You buy a pouch to fit you (not your baby!) to ensure that the pouch is secure and comfortable for you both. Like slings, they are very versatile—from newborn holds where the baby is lying across you, to toddlers in a seated hip carrying position. These are one of the easiest types of carrier to get on and off as there is no adjusting needed . Pouches fold up the smallest of all the carriers so are truly a ‘handbag’ carrier that can be kept on you at all times. Pouches stocked: Coorie Pouch, Lifft Sling |

Asian Inspired Carriers These carriers are designed for back and front carrying. They usually have a tie around the waist, with a piece of cloth covering the baby’s or toddler’s back, with two straps which then come over your shoulders, crossing on your torso and then tying back around your body below the baby’s bottom. They look complicated, but are actually very easy to use, especially in the front carry position. The weight is distributed across your waist and torso evenly with very little drag on your shoulders as the carrier holds your child into your body. AIC Stocked: Ellaroo Mei Tai, FunkySlings Onbuhimo , Simply Mei Tai

Soft Structured Carriers These hold your baby in an upright position, and are fastened using buckles or ties. They are usually based on the traditional designs, but with some more modern design features. They are popular with people who want a carrier that looks more similar to those seen in high street stores, but with more of the benefits of the more traditional carriers. SSC stocked: Wilkinet, Patapum Baby, Patapum Toddler, Ellaroo Hip Carrier, Beco Butterfly, Scootababy |

Wraps These are the most simply constructed of the baby carriers, and the most versatile. They consist of a long piece of fabric, which you tie around you in different ways depending on how you want to carry your baby or toddler. The length, width and the type of fabric all affect how the wrap feels and fits, and also the styles of wrapping you can use. The material spreads the weight evenly across your shoulders and torso, which makes these particularly good for carrying for longer periods Wraps Stocked: Calin Bleu Fleece, Calin Bleu Gauze, Moby Wrap, Moby D |
