These are Japanese inspired carriers, similar to a Mei Tai, but without the ties around your waist.

There are 2 long straps that come over your shoulders to cross  your torso, and then tie in to 2 metal rings at the bottom of the main panel , which secures the base around your waist.

These Mei Tais are an established favourite from a US company   and have a great plain reverse for those of you who have partners that want a plainer carrier!

Mei Tais

These carriers are mostly designed for back and front carrying, although some people also use them for hip carries. They have a tie around the waist, with a panel covering the baby’s or toddler’s back, with two straps which then come over your shoulders, crossing on your torso and then tying back around your body below the baby’s  bottom. They look complicated, but are actually very easy to use, especially for beginners in the front carry position.

The weight is distributed across your waist and torso evenly with very little drag on your shoulders as the carrier holds your child into your body. This makes them very comfortable for longer carries.
