Buckle Carriers Often referred to as 'Soft Structured Carriers' or 'SSC' these are the baby carriers that many people think of when someone refers to a sling or carrier However, most on the high street are front carrying only, and only suitable up to about 6 mths. There are in fact many brands of buckle carriers that are suitable for front and back carries and up to 2-3yrs of age.

Scootababy £84.50 Click image for details. and to BUY	How they work: ~ These are the carriers with a main panel and straps that use buckles instead of ties or rings to fasten them. ~ Some are suitable for front carries for short amounts of time.
Beco Butterfly £98.50 Click image for details. and to BUY	~ You need to get a carrier that has a padded waist band as well as shoulder straps to distribute the weight evenly, and in our opinion a chest strap (like a rucksack has) makes them much better for back carries.
Beco Gemini £94.50 Click image for details. and to BUY	~ Hip Carriers also come into this category - they have a waist strap that clips closed and then a panel with a single strap that goes diagonally across your torso onto one shoulder. These can be very comfortable and quick to get on and off - but are only suitable from about 5 mths (i.e. with head control)
Action Baby Carrier £65.00 Click image for details. and to BUY	Advantages: Comfortable, good at distributing weight, ideal for newborns through to toddlers. A GOOD brand of buckle carrier is very, very different to some of buckle carriers you may have already tried.
Boba 3G Carrier £89.95 Click image for details. and to BUY	Disadvantages: Buckle carriers without a waistband will hang off your shoulders and it will be hard to carry a heavier baby. Some brands not suitable for newborns.
What am I paying for? High quality buckles and safety features, as well as breathable fabrics and highly reinforced stitching where the different part are joined together.
